Missing error message with wrong login credentials

I need to see an alert if I enter the wrong login credentials, that there's something wrong with what I've entered.

Expected: I entered the wrong username, and I see a warning: "No such user or wrong password."

Seen: I click Log In and nothing happens at all, so I don't know what's going on.
